Sharon Freed-Moreland
Professor Sharon Freed-Moreland - wife, mother of two daughters, received her education in the Detroit Public School Community District. She earned a 4-year dance scholarship to Marygrove College, where she obtained a B.F.A. (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in Dance and a B.S. (Bachelor of Science) in Mathematics. She furthered her education by earning an M.A.T. (Master of Arts in Teaching) Degree in Mathematics and Dance Education from Wayne State University and became a certified dance instructor. With a professional background as a choreographer and dancer, Sharon Freed-Moreland has showcased her talents across the United States and internationally.
Located in the heart of the community on the northwest side of Detroit, 3D Dance Academy is a premier dance training school situated on the historic, beautiful grounds of Marygrove Conservancy. Offering a diverse range of training styles, such as ballet, majorette, hip-hop, gymnastics, and more, 3D provides comprehensive services including summer camps, tutoring/mentoring programs, community events, a professional adult performing company, and a competitive team.
Mrs. Sharon Freed-Moreland boasts an impressive resume that includes training at Interlochen, Alvin Ailey Dance School, Arthur Mitchell's Detroit residency lecture demonstration, Katherine Dunham seminars, as well as serving as the ballet mistress, tour dancer and choreographer for the late Queen of Soul, Ms. Aretha Franklin. Her passion for the arts is evident in her dedication to dance and mathematics education.
Reflecting on her journey, Sharon Freed-Moreland shares, ``Dance has been a transformative force in my life. Opening doors to opportunities beyond my imagination. It has been the foundation of my fulfilling career, proving that dance can empower individuals from all walks of life. As a child, I never could have envisioned the accomplishments I have achieved through dance. It has the power to enrich the heart, soul, mind, and body.``
3D Dance Academy encompasses various entities, including the professional adult company under 3D Entertainment Group, the for-profit 3D Dancing Divas & Divos Dance Studio LLC, and the non-profit arts organization 3D Dancing Divas & Divos, INC, a 501(c)(3) entity.
